They had an aging brand in which the logo mimicked that of their competitors. Their original design request was a logo design for an internal sample program called Samplicity. The problem that arose in the design process for Samplicity was the necessity of the new logo to be combined with the Berenson logo, which visually conflicted. Berenson expressed interest in a refreshed brand identity with several stipulations. First, the new logo had to retain brand recognition as Berenson maintains a large customer base already familiar with the original logo. Berenson Hardware was also interested in icon development which could work consistently with the Berenson logo as well as with the Samplicity program. The design solution created by Typework Studio for the new Berenson brand captures the essence of the original logo while incorporating a more contemporary and refined and unique image. The new logo has been used on business cards, printed brochures, tradeshows and other branded material within the company.
